Leslie Fowler, 72, a resident of Savannah, Georgia since
1984, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2023. Leslie was born
February 6, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the
late Calvert and Barbara Ballard. Her sister is the late Linda Peterson.
She met O. C. Fowler, Jr., while he was a Navy Flight Instructor in
Pensacola, Florida. They were married for 48 wonderful years. Their
daughter, Courtney Fowler, was born at the NAS Jacksonville, Florida in
1978. Leslie was a great Navy wife and partner during their 8
military moves and after arriving in Savannah. During her 15 years
supporting the Navy, she was praised for her outstanding biscuits and
breakfast at the end of a night of socializing. While O. C. was deployed,
she raised their daughter, maintained the household, kept the family
finances straight and sold their house and vehicles. She worked part time
in many different Savannah businesses so that she would be home to take
care of Courtney. Leslie is survived by her husband Ormond C. (O.C.) Fowler,
Jr., daughter Courtney Fowler, and many friends and relatives scattered
around the United States. Leslie’s ashes will be placed in the Tennessee
River after a Memorial Service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the COPD
Foundation (www.copdfoundation.org)
